Right. I'm actually going to do something constructive with this thing now!

Hello boys and girls. From now on, I promise, well, sort of, to update my thoughts on a regular basis. After all, coming into work at 7am and starting work at 9am, I really have no excuse!

This week I have mainly been thinking about:

Becoming a father - my fiancee is nearly four months pregnant, and getting bigger. Without wanting to sound trite and overly sentimental, there was a small moment of exquisite beauty in hearing our baby's heartbeat for the first time.

Bill Hicks. A genius who saw through a lot of bullshit. And died. Young. Ten years ago. The BBC story talked of the Princess Diana syndrome, that he has gained iconic status because he died young. Frankly, I think that's so much horse manure. The man had an talent of observation and comment which has only been rivalled by a few. The classic lines about the First Gulf War: "How do we know what weapons they had? Well, we looked at the receipts" still hold true today.

The Darkness. They rock. End of story.

Usenet. In an increasing ephemeral environment, this proves that the most simple ideas are the best. And there aren't even pictures! A darn sight more intelligent than television - and there's no licence fee.

I have also been thinking about other things, but I'm not going to tell you about them, on the grounds that it may incriminate me - even if I did change names to protect the guilty innocent.

So, until the next time... hwyl! (=goodbye in Welsh, language of the gods)
